Lead Engineer – Application Services – LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) Colombo, Western Province, Sri Lanka
Key Responsibilities
GTIS Capital Markets Support Services is responsible for the provision of support for a number of equities and derivatives markets operated by the London Stock Exchange Group. This includes the equities markets for LSE, Turquoise, and other derivatives markets for LSE The trading systems include the ultra-low latency Millennium IT-based Exchange platform, Cinnober’s TradExpress platform, and the SOLA derivatives platform. In addition, there are surveillance platforms, Millennium Surveillance and Scila, a Millennium market data system called Group Tickerplant as well as various cloud-based trading application services.
The candidate will be primarily responsible for the build Operational architecture-related tools while focusing on building Elasticsearch clusters and the integration of logs and metrics from the systems mentioned above into Elasticsearch.
Identify, suggest and improve various aspects of the Software development life cycle (SDLC) in ensuring of the Software/service with the help of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) methodologies/practices.
Works with product owners in an agile environment to produce software
Develops program specifications and basic prototypes
Researches and develops various proof of concepts leading up to product development with a focus on Application stability and reliability.
Provide input to architectural design for network, infrastructure, database and applications
Transforms software designs and specifications into functioning code in the appropriate language
Integrates individual software solutions to higher-level systems
Drive and Support the development of reusable solutions for software/labor-intensive work efforts.
Performs upgrades to make software and systems more secure, efficient, and performing
Provide Level 3 Support for the software once they are deployed into live Service
Works with technical writers to create documentation for support
Responsible for integrating behavior-driven development tests in agile working
Candidate Profile / Key Skills
This is an Individual Contributor role
Experience or (willingness to work) in a technical leadership role where the role has shown/must show skills such as influencing, negotiating, and business communications.
Strong understanding/willingness to learn Site Reliability Engineering Concepts, methodologies and technologies.
Flexible enough and be adaptable to the changing and varied work settings while being the interface between various Capital Market Support teams and the management.
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Electronics / Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
Thorough knowledge of at least one programming language and strong programming and scripting basics (e.g. Python, C++, Java)
Ability to understand and leverage the latest application development, and engineering concepts and provide practical solutions through the use of technology.
Some previous experience in a similar capacity
Previous exposure to Data Science and Analytics will be an added Advantage
Strong verbal and written communication skills
